In the Fall of 2008, Castillo was awarded the National Commission for all exterior artwork for the New Mexico Museum of History-Palace of the Governors on the Plaza in Santa Fe, NM, through AIPP of New Mexico Arts. All work will be installed in April 2009, in time for the Museum's opening.
In the summer of 2009 Castillo will join with a select group of regional, national and international land based artists for "LAND/ART: A collaborative exploration of land-based art in New Mexico with "4 vignettes” for Equations at 516 Arts, Albuquerque, NM, and “are you here” for THE LAND/an Art Site in Mountainair, New Mexico.
In April of 2009, Castillo will make her curatorial debut with her show titled, "the world is flat," at SCA Contemporary Art, in Albuquerque, NM.
In January of 2009 the National Hispanic Center in Albuquerque, NM acquired Castillo's third addition to their permanent collection titled, "barco japonesa."
